Description:	Resumo: com o presente trabalho, objetivo-se avaliar a inclusão do farelo de castanha de caju (FCC), em níveis crescentes, em dietas a base de feno de tifton 85, sobre o balanço de nitrogênio, em ovinos. Para isso, utilizou-se vinte e quatro ovinos machos, inteiros, sem padrão racial definido (SPRD) e com peso vivo (PV) médio de 16,2 kg. Os animais foram alojados em gaiolas metabólicas e distribuídos em um delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com quatro tratamentos e seis repetições. Os cordeiros receberam dietas a base de feno de Tifton 85 e FCC, que foi incluído em níveis crescentes às dietas (0,0; 6,6; 12,9 e 20,0%). Os parâmetros de nitrogênio fecal, nitrogênio ingerido, nitrogênio retido/nitrogênio ingerido e balanço de nitrogênio, não foram afetados pela inclusão de FCC às dietas experimentais (P>0,05). Já para o nitrogênio excretado pela urina (NU), os animais alimentados com dietas contendo 20,0% de inclusão de FCC eliminaram mais nitrogênio do que os animais que receberam em suas dietas 0,0 e 6,6% de FCC (P<0,05). Provavelmente as maiores perdas de NU foram devido ao maior fornecimento desse nutriente no tratamento com 20,0% de inclusão de FCC em relação aos tratamentos com 0,0 e 6,6% de inclusão de FCC. A inclusão de FCC, em uma dieta a base de feno de Tifton 85, para ovinos, promove uma maior perda de nitrogênio pela urina, no entanto, não promove balanço de nitrogênio negativo. Abstract: The present work, aimed to evaluate the inclusion of cashew nut meal (CNM) at increasing levels in diets based on Tifton 85 hay, on nitrogen balance in sheep. For this, were used twenty four male sheep, non-castrated, without defined breed (WDB) and body weight (BW) averaged of 16.2 kg. The animals were housed in metabolic cages and distributed in a completely randomized design with four treatments and six replications. Lambs were fed with diets based on Tifton 85 hay and FCC, which was included in diets at increasing levels (0.0, 6.6, 12.9 and 20.0%). The parameters of fecal nitrogen, nitrogen intake, retained nitrogen/intake nitrogen and nitrogen balance were not affected by inclusion of CNM to experimental diets (P> 0.05). However, for the nitrogen excreted in the urine (UN), the animals fed with diets containing 20.0% of inclusion of CNM eliminated more nitrogen than the animals fed with diets containing 0.0 and 6.6% of CNM (P < 0.05). Probably the greatest losses were of nitrogen in the urine it was due to largest supply of that nutrient in the treatment with 20.0% inclusion of CNM as compared to treatment with 0.0 and 6.6% of inclusion of CNM. The inclusion of CNM in a diet based on Tifton 85 hay for sheep, promotes a greater loss of nitrogen in the urine, however, it does not promote negative nitrogen balance.
