Description:	Resumo: Realizou-se um estudo em novembro de 2014, envolvendo vinte e cinco sistemas agroflorestais biodiversos implantados no Assentamento Lagoa Grande, município de Dourados, estado de Mato Grosso do Sul, região Centro Oeste do Brasil, objetivando caracterizar as espécies vegetais existentes, as práticas de manejo utilizadas nos agroecossistemas e formas de uso das espécies vegetais. Os dados foram obtidos através de entrevistas com os respectivos agricultores responsáveis, utilizando-se de um roteiro semiestruturado previamente elaborado, contendo questões abertas e fechadas, seguindo a metodologia de amostragem em bola-de-neve. Constatou-se que os sistemas agroflorestais biodiversos, tipo quintais agroflorestais, proporcionam expressiva mudança de paisagem, estabelecendo microclimas estáveis no entorno das residências, garantindo bem-estar às famílias; contribuem com a restauração e manutenção do equilíbrio biológico localmente; viabilizam a diversificação de atividades produtivas, incrementando a dieta alimentar das famílias e a segurança alimentar e nutricional. Abstract: a study happened in November of 2014, involving twenty-five biodiverse agroforestry systems established in the Lagoa Grande, Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul, Central West region of Brazil, in order to characterize the existing plant species, management practices used in agro-ecosystems and usage of plant species. The data were obtained through interviews with the respective responsible farmers, making use of a semistructured script previously prepared with open and closed questions, following the sampling methodology in snow-ball. It was noticed that the systems of biodiverse agroforestry, home gardens type provide significant change of landscape, establishing stable microclimates in the vicinity of the residences, guaranteeing well-being to the families; t contribute to the restoration and maintenance of biological balance locally; enable the diversification of productive activities, improving the food diet of families and the food and nutritional security.
