Description: Aleochara verecunda Sharp, 1876 was considered a species inquirenda in the latest revision of the Brazilian Aleochara (Aleochara) Gravenhorst, 1802 (Staphylinidae: Aleocharinae). However, recently collected specimens identified as A. verecunda are here reported from Acre and Pará, two states in the Brazilian Amazon region. The species is easily distinguished from the other Brazilian A. (Aleochara) species by the two first antennomeres (scape and pedicel), which are much lighter in color than the others.
