Description: The biological diversity in tropical forests is constantly being threatened by the continuous exploitation of forest resources. The Atlantic rain forest is now reduced to 7% of the initial area, and the conservation and recuperation of these fragments is of concem to the government and civil society. This study aims at characterising the wood anatomy of four representative tree species of Mimosaceae naturally occurring in the Atlantic rain forest in Parana region (Inga sessilis Mart., [. edulis Mart, / marginata Benth. and [. affinis DC.), as a contribution to the knowledge of the potential tree species in restoration program. Wood samples were collected non-destructively from each species and permanent slides were made.
