Description:	RESUMO - O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito de diferentes níveis de suplementação no desempenho de novilhos recriados a pasto, durante o período de outono no Norte do Mato Grosso. O Experimento foi conduzido entre os meses de março a junho de 2003. Foram utilizados cinqüenta e cinco (55) novilhos castrados com idade média de 10 meses, e peso inicial de 226 Kg, distribuídos em 24,5 hectares, num delineamento inteiramente casualizado. Os tratamentos utilizados foram baseados no fornecimento de suplementos nas quantidades de 0,125%, 0,25%, 0,5%, 1,0% do peso vivo, e controle com suplementação mineral (SM). Todos os tratamentos eram baseados em milho e farelo de soja, com teor de 24% de proteína bruta (PB). Os animais do grupo controle apresentaram consumo médio para a suplementação mineral de 70g/dia, com ganho de 0,26 Kg; a resposta dos animais ao suplemento foi limitada pela proteína, não permitindo o atendimento das exigências para o ganho de peso máximo. Os níveis de fornecimento apresentaram ganhos de 0,47, 0,65, 0,75 e 0,84 Kg/dia, com conversão de 1,54, 1,51, 2,69 e 4,75 kg de suplemento por kg de ganho, para 0,125%, 0,25%, 0,5% e 1,0% PV. A suplementação em níveis crescentes proporcionou maiores ganhos de peso, para os níveis de 0,5% e 1,0%, com maior eficiência de uso do suplemento para os níveis de 0,25% e 0,50%. ABSTRACT - The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of different levels of supplementation in the performance of steers recreated to pasture, during the autumn period in the North of Mato Grosso. The experiment happened among the months of March to june of 2003. Fifty-five castred steers were used with average age of 10 months, and weight initial of 226 Kg, distributed in 24,5 hectares, in a completely randomized design. All the treatments were based on the supply in the base of body weight, in the amounts of 0,125%, 0,25%, 0,5%, 1,0% and mineral supplementation with control (MS). All of the treatments were based on corn and soybean meal, with a 24% of crude protein (CP). The animals of the control group presented a mineral supplementation intake of 70g/day, with an average daily gain of 0,26 Kg; the gain of the animals to the mineral supplement was limited, for the protein, not allowing the accomplishment of the maxim gain demand. The supplementation levels presented daily gain of 0,47, 0,65, 0,75 and 0,84 Kg/day, with a conversion of 1,54, 1,51, 2,69 and 4,75, for 0,125%, 0,25%, 0,5% e 1,0% PV BW. The supplementation in growing levels provided, larger weight gains, for the levels of 0,5% and 1,0%; with a larger efficiency of the supplement for the levels of 0,50% and 0,25%.
