Conteúdo:	RESUMO - A simulação manual de pastejo é usada como estimativa da qualidade da dieta selecionada por bovinos, mas do ponto de vista de seleção indireta para o valor nutritivo de folha e colmo em programas de melhoramento é interessante que essa técnica apresente associação genética entre os caracteres de interesse. O objetivo deste trabalho foi obter estimativas de correlações genéticas entre caracteres relacionados ao valor nutritivo obtidos via simulação de pastejo com aqueles mensurados a partir dos componentes folha, colmo e planta inteira. Foram avaliadas progênies de Brachiaria humidicola no delineamento em blocos ao acaso com oito repetições em seis cortes. A simulação de pastejo foi realizada antes dos cortes, e após os cortes foram retiradas amostras para separação botânica e posterior determinação do valor nutritivo. As correlações genéticas especialmente entre a simulação de pastejo e a planta inteira foram de altas magnitudes, com exceção para proteína bruta. Também as correlações entre a fibra de detergente neutro (FDN) e digestibilidade in vitro da matéria orgânica da folha foram de alta magnitude, bem como para a FDN, fibra em detergente ácido e lignina do colmo. Os resultados confirmaram o mérito em utilizar a simulação de pastejo como parâmetro de seleção no melhoramento de forrageiras visando uma avaliação indireta do valor nutritivo dos componentes folha, colmo, e planta inteira. ABSTRACT - Hand-plucked samples is used to estimate the quality of the diet selected by cattle, but from the standpoint of indirect selection in breeding programs for improvement in the nutritional value of leaf and stem it is interesting that the genetic association between the characters be determined. The objective here was to estimate genetic correlations of the nutritive value of hand-plucked samples with the leaf and stem components of plant and also with the whole plant. Progenies of Brachiaria humidicola was evaluated though a randomized blocks design with eight replications in six cuts. The hand-plucked samples were taken right before cutting and after each cut samples were collected for botanical separation and subsequent determination of nutritive value. Genetic correlations especially between the hand-plucked samples and whole plant were of high magnitude, except for crude protein. The correlations between neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and in vitro digestibility of organic matter of leaf were also of high magnitude, and for the stem, NDF, acid detergent fiber and lignin were also high. Thus the results confirm the merit in using hand-plucked samples as a selection parameter in the breeding of forages for and indirect evaluation of nutritive value of leaf, stems and whole plants.
