Description: Common bacterial blight of beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) incited by .Xanthomonas phaseoli (E.F.Sm.) Dows. is a nationwide problem in Brazil. Up to the present, few bean cultivars are tolerant to this pathogen and the leveI of tolerance is low. Thus, it is imperative that new sources of tolerance be identified and incorporated to new cultivars. An experiment has been conducted in the the National Center for Research on Rice and Goiânia, State of Goiás.
