Conteúdo: Soils are home to more than half of all terrestrial biodiversity (Anthony et al., 2023) and form the living foundation of terrestrial eco- systems (Wagg et al., 2014). Yet, soil biodiversity remains underrepre- sented in national biodiversity strategies, conservation targets, and monitoring frameworks of several countries on the five continents. Many of them do not have the capacity or need adjustment in order to start monitoring soil biodiversity (Brown et al., 2025). However, a growing number of countries (from the EU, Brazil, United States, Australia, China, India, and several others) are formally assessing soil biodiversity through innovative national monitoring programs (Brown et al., 2025).To promote the sustainable use and conservation of soil biodiversity, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) through the Global Soil Partnership (GSP) launched the International Network on Soil Biodiversity (NETSOB) during World Soil Day in 2021, as per the recommendation of the Global Symposium on Soil Biodiversity and the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD, 2022). At COP15 in 2022, the Global Soil Biodiversity Observatory (GLOSOB) was established to begin addressing those gaps (Parnell, Brown, et al., 2025; Parnell, de Ruiter, et al., 2025) and help support countries in building capacity for monitoring, assessment and policy action. NETSOB Working Group 1 has been tasked with enabling national soil biodiversity assessments and harmonizing efforts across countries.

Araucaria angustifolia: influence of mother tree sex and provenance in grafting success.

Título: Araucaria angustifolia: influence of mother tree sex and provenance in grafting success.
Autoria: GABIRA, M. M.; FRAGOSO, R. de O.; WENDLING, I.; STUEPP, C. A.
Conteúdo: ABSTRACT. The development of vegetative propagation programs of Araucaria angustifolia still lacks on information about genetic factor that may influence on its success. We aimed to evaluate how mother tree sex and provenance influence on grafting success. So, we collected orthotropic branches from 26 mother trees male and female, of a clonal garden established from matrices from different provenances, and carried out an experiment using a patch grafting technique. Grafting survival, number and length of shoots did not differ between mother tree sex and provenance. The absence of significant variations between mother trees and no correlation with sex or provenance indicates that the morphological characteristics of rootstocks and shoots, and environmental conditions after grafting may have more influence on the success of grafting.

Conteúdo: ABSTRACT. Abstract - Cydianerus latruncularius Perty (Coleoptera: Curculionidae) were observed associated with trumpet trees (Handroanthus spp.) in Brasília, Brazil, in 2019. To contribute with information about their habits and damage, 15 trees (Handroanthusimpetiginosus = 7, H. roseoalbus = 4, and Tabebuiarosea = 4) were evaluated and 31 individuals of C. latruncularius were captured, often found within or close to leaf rolls caused by the psyllid Triozatabebuiae Burckhardt & Santana (Hemiptera: Triozidae). The damage caused by C. latruncularius consists of irregular injuries at the leaves’ edges. This is the first report of this beetle occurring on trumpet trees.
