Description: Guarana plant (Paullinia cupana var. sorbilis (Mart.) Ducke) is a natural polyploidy of Amazon biodiversity that produce beans with a high caffeine levels. Low genetic variation has been detected in the guarana germplasm, but has been sufficient for the selection of genotypes to generate commercial cultivar clones. Primarily the use of germplasm resulted in several clones selected for both high production of dried beans and stable disease resistance. Nowadays, the guarana research demands a better knowledge of the conserved germplasm clones to suport the use of the genetic variability in the recurrent selection program. ISSR marker was employed to analyze the genetic relationship among 65 agronomic evaluated in field selection program and 40 genotypes of guarana field genebank from the Embrapa Amazonia Ocidental.
