ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to evaluate the supply of rainwater conditioning as drinking water for broiler. A total of 1,179 chicks were used, distributed in three treatments and 14 replicates. Rainwater was collected on broiler house roof and stored in cistern, and submitted to treatments before delivery to the animals. Treatments applied were: no intervention (Control), refrigerated water treatment (21 to 23 ° C ? Thermic), and water treated with UV system (UV = microbe reduction). Bird performance was evaluated measuring average body weight, daily weight gain, daily feed intake and feed conversion ratio from 1 to 42 days of age. It was observed increased feed intake, weight gain and average body weight in birds that received rainwater with thermic treatment in comparison to the birds that received water treated with UV. There was no significant effect on feed conversion ratio. The results are promising, and will be validated throughout field trials.
