Descripción: A stock of 750 seed derived cupuacu plants, cultivated in different cropping systems on an experimental site near Manaus, Amazonia, is being studied. In this paper studies are presented regarding the variability of productivity and maturity of cupuacu trees after 31/2 years of cultivation. The results indicate that cupuacu plants react very sensitive on even slightly varying site specific factors. This means that in practice the selecting and breeding of cupuacu plants for high yield and rapide development require a detailed documentaion of the environmental conditions, under which the quality determining characters had been observed.
