Conteúdo:	This special issue presents 12 papers about recent studies in Latin America related to the acquisition of data, information, and knowledge necessary for an adequate coexistence of humankind with the problems that may occur as a result of erosion and sedimentation processes. The papers deal with topics such as monitoring and modeling of erosion and sedimentation processes, model application to support integrated land and water resources management, as well as issues related to the chemical characteristics of the sediments and their impacts on water quality.
