Description: Abstract: The aim of this research was to evaluate the genetic values obtained using genetic mating based on the means between the parent?s expected progeny differences (DEPs) (scenario I) and the optimized genetic mating (scenario II). Inbreeding coefficient (F), total genetic merit (MGT), farmer genetic merit (MGC) and the predictions of DEP for probability of precocious pregnancy (D3P), age at first calving (DIPP), accumulated productivity (DPAC), scrotal circumference at 365 and 450 days of age (DPE365 and DPE450), stayability (DSTAY), maternal ability at 120 and 210 days of age (DMP120 and MP210), weights at 120, 210, 365 and 450 days of age (DP120, DP210, DP365 and P450), rib eye area (DAOL) and backfat thickness (DACAB) were analyzed in this study. The data consistency, descriptive statistical analyses and calculation of genetic gain obtained by each program were performed using the software Statistical Analysis System. All analyzed means showed values more advantageous on scenario I than on scenario II, except the DPAC mean. Furthermore, the genetic gains to all groups of traits (growth, reproductive and carcass) were larger on scenario I program. The genetic values obtained confirm the efficiency of the use of scenario I such as tool to get genetic progress.
