Description:	RESUMO - O objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar o potencial de implantação de unidades de produção de garoupa verdadeira no estado do Rio de Janeiro, utilizando estruturas de cultivo aquícolas existentes, como viveiros escavados, ou identificando áreas costeiras adequadas para essa criação. A análise foi baseada em informações georreferenciadas obtidas do Sistema de Inteligência Territorial Estratégica para Aquicultura (SITE Aquicultura), por meio de mapas temáticos e análises de inteligência territorial estratégica. Ao aliar a análise de inteligência territorial estratégica às decisões no setor produtivo, foi possível identificar áreas propícias para o estabelecimento de empreendimentos aquícolas, considerando tanto a otimização da produção quanto a Dimensão ambiental da sustentabilidade. Além disso, a análise facilitou a identificação de possíveis desafios e oportunidades, permitindo uma abordagem proativa na mitigação de riscos e no aproveitamento de condições favoráveis. Conclui-se que o Rio de Janeiro possui um alto potencial para o cultivo de garoupa, devido às estruturas aquícolas existentes e à sua localização na área de ocorrência natural da garoupa verdadeira. ABSTRACT - The objective of this work was to analyze the potential for implementing true grouper production units in the state of Rio de Janeiro, using existing aquaculture structures, such as excavated ponds, or identifying suitable coastal areas for this creation. The analysis was based on georeferenced information obtained from the Strategic Territorial Intelligence System for Aquaculture (SITE Aquicultura), through thematic maps and strategic territorial intelligence analyses. By combining the analysis of strategic territorial intelligence with decisions in the production sector, it was possible to identify areas suitable for the establishment of aquaculture enterprises, considering both the optimization of production and the environmental dimension of sustainability. Furthermore, the analysis facilitated the identification of possible challenges and opportunities, allowing a proactive approach to mitigating risks and taking advantage of favorable conditions. It is concluded that Rio de Janeiro has a high potential for grouper cultivation, due to the existing aquaculture structures and its location in the area of natural occurrence of the true grouper.
