dc.descriptionMathematical models can be used to improve performance, reduce cost of production, and reduce nutrient excretion by accounting for more of the variation in predicting requirements and feed utilization in each unique production situation. However, the use of models to assist in production decisions is limited by the information (model inputs) that is typically available on the farm. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the development of nutrition models for predicting requirements and feed utilization by cattle in formulating accurate rations and feeding systems in each production situation.
