Description:	Resumo: O déficit hídrico existente no semiárido brasileiro, sua escassez de recursos e mudanças climáticas se traduz como um dos desafios dos agricultores na produção de alimentos. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi analisar o manejo da agrobiodiversidade em variedades crioulas de milho (Zea mays L.), a partir do conhecimento dos agricultores da região do semiárido cearense. O estudo foi conduzido a partir de levantamento de campo, junto a 190 agricultores, e realizado em 18 comunidades distribuídas em nove municípios do semiárido cearense em 2016. Foram identificadas 14 variedades crioulas distribuídas nos municípios investigados. Estas variedades apresentam variabilidade genética no que se refere à adaptação a ambientes adversos, resistência a estresses hídricos e prolificidade. Tais características lhes conferiram a habilidade de atender a segurança alimentar das famílias, a alimentação animal, além de possuírem valor de uso comercial, em termos de trocas e vendas em feiras locais. Abstract: The existing water deficit in the Brazilian semi-arid region, coupled with the scarcity of other resources accentuated by climatic changes, is one of the great challenges faced by farmers in the production of food. The objective of the present study was to describe and analyze the agrobiodiversity management of landrace maize varieties (Zea mays L.) based on the traditional knowledge of farmers in the semi-arid region of Ceará. The study was based on a field survey and was carried out in 18 communities, distributed in nine municipalities located in the semi-arid region of Ceará, in 2016. A research questionnaire was applied to 190 farmers and 14 landrace varieties distributed in the municipalities were investigated. These varieties present genetic variability related to adaptation to adverse environments, resistance to water stresses and prolifity, These characteristics gave them the ability to meet the food security of families, animal feed, in addition to having commercial value, in terms of exchanges and sales at local fairs.
