Embrapa’s wheat research center como developing in the last twenty years, double purpose (DP) cereal crops, to feed animals during cool-season, besides grain yield of regrowth. Has been observed similar wheat yield of on grazed wheat due to higher tillering, homogeneity and lower height who maximize environment utilization. Wheat green pasture has excellente nutritive value, with similar crude protein and digestibility concentration from taht alfafa. Five DP wheat cultivars were released BRS Figueira, BRS Umbu, BRS Guatambu, BRS Tarumã e BRS 277. DP wheat has been used in some countries such as USA, Australia, Uruguay and Argentine, with economic advantages to farmes. In the south Brazil has been achieved average daily animal gain (ADG) from 0.8 to 1.65 kg/steer and 15 to 20 kg of milk/cow. These result in 100 to 450 kg/há and 2 to 4 t/ha of milk, besides to 1.5 to 4.5 g/ha of grain. These new DP wheat brazilian cultivars as USA and Australia model, contribute to wheat inside country marked as well as exportation, besides to improve animal nutrition of 5.0 million of milk cows and more than 25.0 million of beef cattle in the southern brazilian region.
