Description: | Farage production on tifton 85 sod seeding with mixture of cold-season annual pasture The sod sedding of cold-season annual pasture over perineal hot-season pastures contributes to reduce the competition that has been taking place between the pastures due to the restriction of the area in the production units with dairy activity. The experiment tested three mixtures of cold-season annual pasture, Lolium multiflorum Lam. cv. Comoon with Secale cereale (LCS), Lolium multiflorum Lam.cv. Comoon with Vicia villosa (LCV) and Lolium multiflorum Lam. cv. São Gabriel with Secale cereale (LSS). The mixtures were seeded in Tifton 85 pasture at the end of May 2008 and grazed by dairy cows that have removed the fodder plant when it reached 15 to 20 cm, which allowed three cycles of herbage accumulation. The mixture of vetch with rye presented a longer production cycle, it was possible to observe a fourth cycle of this mixture. When considering only three cycles of growth there was no difference in the average availability of dry matter between the mixtures. However, when we consider the availability of dry matter at each growth cycle, it was observed that in the second cycle the mixture LCV stood out in relation to the mixture LSS and, in the third cycle, it was the mixture LCS that had increased availability of dry matter in the LSS. The use of mixture with ryegrass and common vetch, besides presenting comparatively high productions, made it possible to have one more growth cycle, while the use of rye and ryegrass concentrate their production in the three cycles. |
