Descripción:	Este estudo estima os custos de oportunidade associados à manutenção da reserva legal no bioma Amazônia, conforme exigido pelo Código Florestal Brasileiro. A reserva legal contribui para a manutenção dos serviços ecossistêmicos, ao mesmo tempo em que coloca limitações à expansão da fronteira agropecuária. Utilizando dados do Censo Agropecuário 2017 (Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística, 2019) e do Cadastro Ambiental Rural (Serviço Florestal Brasileiro, 2024), foi empregada uma análise envoltória de dados, para mensurar o nível de eficiência e os custos de oportunidade de manter a reserva legal em nível municipal. Os resultados revelaram custos de oportunidade médios em torno de R$ 521 por hectare ou R$ 19.795 por estabelecimento, valor relativamente superior aos reportados em estudos precedentes em outras regiões. Ao comparar os níveis de eficiência, foi possível diagnosticar que a manutenção da vegetação nativa apresenta baixa relação entre eficiência técnica e eficiência ambiental, potencialmente influenciando as decisões de uso da terra e a adesão às diretrizes ambientais em vigor. Abstract: This study estimates the opportunity costs associated with maintaining the legal reserve in the Amazon biome, as required by the Brazilian Forest Code. The legal reserve contributes to the provision of ecosystem services while imposing constraints on the expansion of the agricultural frontier. Using data from the 2017 Agricultural Census (Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística, 2019) and the Brazilian Rural Environmental Registry (Serviço Florestal Brasileiro, 2024), data envelopment analysis was employed to assess efficiency and opportunity costs of maintaining municipal-level legal reserve. The results indicated average opportunity costs of approximately R$ 521 per hectare or R$ 19,795 per establishment, which are relatively higher than values reported in previous studies of other regions. By comparing efficiency levels, we verified that the conservation of native vegetation exhibits weak correlation between technical and environmental efficiency, potentially influencing land-use decisions and compliance with current environmental policies.
