| Conteúdo: | The Brazilian semiarid region faces critical challenges of water scarcity, soil degradation, and the intensified impacts of climate change, threatening food security and the continued survival of families in rural areas. Against this backdrop, underground dams emerge as an innovative and effective social technology that promotes water storage directly in the soil profile, expanding water autonomy and strengthening family agricultural production. In this regard, this study evaluated the effects of this technology on the resilience of family agroecosystems located in the Northeastern semiarid region, based on participatory knowledge development with farmers and technicians, using Participatory Rural Diagnosis. The results indicate significant advances in access to water, sustainable soil management, and diversified crops, in addition to expanding adaptive capacity to climate change and strengthening the socio-productive inclusion of families. The technology also contributes to the valorization of local knowledge and the strengthening of community ties, constituting a strategic tool for climate justice and territorial sustainability. Successful implementation depends on integrated coordination between research, extension, and civil society, supported by ongoing public policies that expand the reach and sustainability of the technology. |
