Conteúdo: The Decision Support System for Agrotechnology Transfer (DSSAT) ecosystem is a combination suite of software created to facilitate the development and use of integrated crop, soil, weather, and management components and the datasets required for this development and applications. The DSSAT Cropping System Model (CSM) is the standalone executable component of DSSAT that simulates the dynamic performance of different crops and makes use of DSSAT’s tools for input, output, analysis, and applications for simulating crop and soil performance for specifc climates and management conditions. In this chapter, we discuss the evolution of the DSSAT-CSM as it has been improved to simulate different crop and soil processes, examples of adding capabilities to simulate additional crops, model adaptation for new crop species, and examples of model applications for genetic improvement in the face of climate change. This chapter reviews the crop C, water, N, and P balance processes in the DSSAT-CSM and the tools and utilities in DSSAT.
