Conteúdo:	Remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) are powerful tools which can be combined and used for various agricultural and environmental purposes. The NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), derived from images of the MODIS sensor of the TERRA satellite, is used to estimate vegetative vigor. The aim of this study was to evaluate the average NDVI values of coffee areas, in 2008 and 2009 and its relation to phenology and meteorological variables. The study demonstrated the great potential of the MOD13Q1 for monitoring agrometeorological of coffee areas of the region of Três Pontas, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
