(HRC) describes crops made resistant to herbicides by either transgene technology or by selection in cell or tissue culture for mutations that confer herbicide resistance. HRCs are also referred to as herbicide-tolerant crops. Most of the success and controversy about HRCs concerns transgenic HRCs, so this article will focus on these products.
