Description: In this paper we present examples of characterizing accessions of large germplasm collections according to environmental conditions of the collecting sites, for two purposes: 1). to define an ecogeographic stratification for the landraces of the Brazilian Cassava Collection for the development of the Brazilian Core Collection of Cassava; 2). to identify Brazilian rice landraces collected in areas with environmental conditions of stresses related to the objectives of breeding programmes of rice in Brazil, selecting accessions for future agronomic evaluation.
