dc.descriptionRESUMO Foram utilizadas as pesagens ao nascimento (PN) e os pesos ajustados às idades padrão de 205 (P205), 365 (P365) e 550 (P550) dias de idades, resultando em 60.617 registros de pesos, realizados em 22.949 animais pertencentes a 46 rebanhos de bovinos da raça Guzerá. Nas análises unicaracterísticas e bicaracterísticas dois modelos foram utilizados para obter estimativas de parâmetros genéticos usando a metodologia REML: O modelo 1 ajustou para os efeitos genéticos direto e materno, de ambiente permanente materno e residual, além do efeito de grupos contemporâneos; no modelo 2 exclui-se o efeito genético materno. As estimativas, e o comportamento das variâncias, nos modelos 1 e 2, nas análises uni e bicaracterísticas, foram parecidas. No modelo 1 as estimativas de variância genética materna foram baixas, principalmente no período antes da desmama. As herdabilidades direta no modelo 1 e 2, nas análises uni e bicaracterísticas, foram semelhantes. As estimativas das herdabilidades direta das análises uni e bicaracterísticas, para PN, P205, P365 e P550 foram 0,13; 0,10; 0,17; 0,14 e 0,13; 0,10; 0,16; 0,15, respectivamente. As estimativas de herdabilidade materna foram baixas para todas idades. As correlações genéticas foram idênticas nos modelos 1 e 2. As correlações genéticas diretas para PN/P205, PN/P365, PN/P550, P205/P365, P205/P550 e P365/P550 foram 0,36; 0,52; 0,35; 0,74; 0,62 e 0,95, respectivamente. As correlações fenotípicas e ambientais apresentaram valores menores nas estimativas em que envolviam o peso ao nascer.Nas análises constatou-se que o modelo 2, conseguiu se ajustar tão bem aos dados, quanto o modelo 1. ABSTRACT Body weights at birth (PN), 205 (P205), 365 (P365) and 550 (P550) days of age, from 22,949 animals belonging to 46 herds of the Guzera breed, during the period of 1975 to 2001. Genetic parameters were estimated according two single-trait and two-trait models, with REML methodology. Model 1 considered the direct and maternal genetic, maternal permanent environmental and residual effects as random and the contemporary group effect as fixed. Model 2 only excluded the maternal genetic effect. Estimates from models 1 and 2 were quite similar. In model 1 the estimates maternal genetic variance were low, mainly before the weaning. Estimates of heritability in the single- and two-trait analysis were 0.13; 0.10; 0.17; 0.14 and 0.13; 0.10; 0.16; 0.15. respectively. Estimates of maternal heritability were low for all considered ages. Genetic correlations were identical in both models 1 and 2. Estimates of genetic correlation for PN/P205, PN/P365, PN/P550, P205/P365, P205/P550 and P365/P550 were 0.36; 0.52; 0.35; 0.62 and 0.95 respectively. Phenotypic and environmental correlations presented lower values when birth weight was involving. Overall it was observed a good agreement between the results of both models
