Description:	RESUMO - Avaliaram-se oito acessos de "Brachiaria brizantha" do Programa de Seleção e de Melhoramento da Embrapa Gado de Corte e a cv. Marandu quanto à fragilidade digestiva das lâminas foliares incubadas "in vitro". Para amostragem das lâminas utilizaram-se dois bovinos esôfago-fistulados por piquete (1.000 m2), e a extrusa foi coletada por dois dias consecutivos em dezembro de 2000. Após a separação dos fragmentos das lâminas, estes foram incubados in vitro, e os resíduos da incubação após seis, 12, 24, 48 e 72 h foram observados ao microscópio óptico. As diferenças entre as gramíneas quanto a fragilidade digestiva das lâminas foliares foram verificadas após 24 h, principalmente com relação à epiderme e estrutura girder. Após 48 h verificou-se o efeito dos feixes transversais na manutenção estrutural do fragmento. Os fatores que interferiram na fragilidade digestiva dos acessos B1 e B4 foram a epiderme e estrutura girder I, e os feixes transversais na cv. Marandu, B3, B5, B6, B8. E para os acessos B2 e B9 ocorreu efeito da epiderme e feixes transversais, porém menos pronunciado que nos demais acessos. ABSTRACT - This paper reports on the digestive fragility of leaf blades after in vitro incubation of eight accessions and the cv. Marandu of "Brachiaria brizantha" from the Selection and Breeding Program of Embrapa Beef Cattle Center. The sampling was done using two steers with esophageal fistulas per pasture, and the extrusa was collected on two consecutive days in December of 2000. After separating the blade fragments, in vitro incubation was carried out for six, 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours and residues were examined under an optical microscope. Differences regarding digestive fragility between accessions were observed after 24 hours incubation, mainly in the epidermis and girder structure. After 48 hours, the effect of the transverse bundles in the maintenance of the fragment structure was evident. The factors influencing digestive fragility in B1 and B4 were the epidermis and the girder I structure and in cv. Marandu, B3, B5, B6 and B8 were the transverse bundles. In accessions B2 and B9, the effect of epidermis and transverse bundles was observed but less pronounced that in the other accessions.
