dc.description[Proteins of testicular Santa Inês sheep and Dorper]. The characterization and identification of variables can influence the reproductive performance of the animal, whether reproductive or productive. The study of proteomics is an important tool for unveiling some of these physiological processes. The objective of this study was to identify the different protein bands present in testicular tissue of Dorper and Santa Inês sheep breeds. The experiment was conducted at Embrapa Sheep and Goats, Sobral, state of Ceará, Brazil. Seventeen sheep were salughtered (seven Santa Inês and ten Dorper, aged between five and six months), for testicular tissue collection. The protein bands were identified by one-dimensional SDS-PAGE electrophoresis on polyacrylamide gel at 12.5%. There was a variation from 8 to 21 bands between the breeds, from 8 to 12 in Dorper breed, and from 17 to 21 in Santa Inês. The bands of molecular mass 20, 45, 52, 55, 66, 72, 90, 99, 116 and 134 kDa were identified in both analyzed breeds, with 80 bands, 110 and 124 kDa found only in the Dorper breed and the bands 22 , 26, 30, 32, 36, 40 and 42 kDa found in Santa Inês. Santa Inês sheep showed a greater number of protein bands of the testis compared to Dorper. This identification will support further studies in molecular biology.pt_BR
