Description:	RESUMO O experimento foi conduzido objetivando avaliar o coeficiente de repetibilidade para algumas características agronômicas em híbridos de 'Panicum maximum'. Quinze parcelas de plantas sexuais da espécie 'P. maximum' foram aleatoriamente distribuídos entre as 230 parcelas de acessos apomíticos. Após a fecundação natural, sementes de cada planta sexual constituiu-se em uma família de meios irmãos. Trinta plantas de cada progenitora foram avaliadas em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com cinco plantas por parcela e seis repetições. A partir dos quatro cortes, estimou-se o coeficiente de repetibilidade pelo método da máxima verossimilhança restrita (REML). Observou-se que o coeficiente de repetibilidade, para as características massa verde e matéria seca total foram bastante elevados (0,92 e 0,74, respectivamente). O coeficiente de repetibilidade para matéria seca foliar foi estimado em 0,35. Considerando-se como satisfatório um nível de 80 ou 90% de confiabilidade para tomada de decisão sobre a superioridade relativa dos híbridos, em termos de produção de massa verde, as quatro medições realizadas seriam suficientes para escolha da melhor planta. A utilização da produção de matéria seca para escolha do melhor híbrido, apresentou necessidade de ao menos três medições para confiabilidade de 90%. Já para matéria seca foliar são necessárias sete medições para que 80% de confiabilidade na escolha do melhor híbrido. ABSTRACT - The experiment was conducted with the objective of evaluating the coefficient of repeatability of some agronomic characteristics in 'Panicum maximum' hybrids. Fifteen plots of sexual plants of the species were randomly distributed among 230 plots of apomictic accessions. After natural hybridization, seeds of each sexual plant constituted a half-sib family. Thirty plants of each female progenitor were evaluated in a random blocks design, with five plants per plot and six replications. The coefficient of repeatability was estimated by the restricted maximum likelihood method (REML) for the four cuts. The coefficient of repeatability for green matter and total dry matter yields were high (0.92 and 0.74, respectively). The coefficient of repeatability for leaf dry matter yield was estimated as 0.35. Considering a level of 80 or 90% as satisfactory for the confidence in the decision of the relative superiority of the hybrids based on green matter yield, these four cuts would be sufficient for the choice of the best plant. For the choice of the best hybrid in terms of total dry matter yield, at least three measurements would be necessary for a confidence of 90%. For leaf dry matter yield, seven measurements are necessary to have a 80% of confidence in the choice of the best hybrid.
