Description: An alternative to the adoption of 305-day milk yield during lactation to evaluate bovine genetics is the use of test-day milk yield (TDMY) information. This procedure has been used in the main cattle breeding programs around the world. Among the genetic evaluation methods using TDMY, in general, the random regression models are more parsimonious as compared with multi-trait models that consider production in each month of lactation as a different trait (Pereira et al., 2013). Therefore, the objective of this study was to estimate genetic parameters for test-day milk yield in Gyr cows at different management levels using the random regression model.
