Descripción: During the last three decades, a large number of impact assessment studies have been developed in the world showing the contributions of agricultural research to the improvement of productivity, profitability and sustainability of the agribusiness. Brazil is one of the countries where this kind of study frequently appears, particularly at Embrapa - a government research company which is responsible for the most of the agricultural research conducted in the country. The question that has been frequently posed regarding these studies is related to their usefulness to strengthen the agricultural research institutions and their funding.
