Description: The use of averagevalues of reference evapotranspiration (ETo), obtained from historical climatic series, can be used to estimate ETo in the different regional climatic conditions. The objective of the present work was to compare the estimated values of ETo with the respective historical averages, for the climatic conditions of the northwest region of São Paulo. The daily meteorological data were collected in Jales, SP. Based on the daily data, there were calculated 10-daysvalues in the same period. The Penman-Monteith method (EToPM), considered standard, was compared with averagevalues of ETo. The results obtained show that the use of ETo historical average data can present satisfactory performance, in relation to the ten-daysdata obtained by the Penman-Monteith method, in the climatic conditions of the northwest of São Paulo.
