Description:	O açaí é um produto muito consumido no Brasil, com destaque para a região Norte do país. Porém, com o aumento de áreas cultivadas em terra firme tem-se verificado a existência de insetos-praga, resultando em prejuízos ao produtor. Em agosto de 2015, constatou-se a primeira ocorrência de lagartas Herminodes sp. em cultivos de açaizeiro de touceira em Bujari e Rio Branco, Acre. O ataque dessas lagartas causa amarelecimento das folhas, deformações no estipe e pedúnculo da inflorescência, e emissão da inflorescência, o que compromete a frutificação devido a morte prematura das folhas que não se desprendem do estipe. Assai is a very consumed product in Brazil, with emphasis on the North region of the country. However, with the increase of cultivated land areas, there has been the existence of pest insects, resulting in losses to the producer. In August 2015, the first occurrence of caterpillars Herminodes sp. in the cultivation of assai of clumps in Bujari and Rio Branco, Acre. The attack of these caterpillars causes yellowing of the leaves, deformations in the stipe and peduncle of the inflorescence, and emission of the inflorescence,which compromises fruiting due to premature death of the leaves that do not detach from the stipe.
