The study aimed to evaluate the effects of shaded pastures on the testicular echogenicity and scrotal circumference of bulls raised in a tropical environment. Sixty four bulls (n=64) were used in the experiment. Sixteen bulls of Nelore (Bos indicus) and Canchim breeds (5/8 Bos taurus x 3/8 Bos indicus) were kept in shaded pastures (iLPF) or in full sun pastures (PS) during one year. Testicular parenchyma integrity was evaluated by using Mode B ultrasonography every month. The data were analyzed by ANOVA and multiple comparisons of means were performed by Fisher’s adjusted test (P<0.05). The scrotal circumference increased over the seasons. The bulls presented less homogeneous testicular parenchyma in the spring. The hyperechogenicity of testicular parenchyma increased in spring, regardless of system of production or breed. Canchim bulls kept in shaded system presented lower hyperechogenicity in the spring (P<0,05).
