Description: The objective of this work was to investigate the effects of crossbreeding on the temperament by measuring the flying speed (m/s) of beef cattle and its relationship with animal productivity. Data on 331 calves were evaluated at two phases (weaning and yearling). These calves were born from Aberdeen Angus (AN), Hereford (HH) and Nellore (NE) cows mated with bulls of the AN, HH, Caracu (CR) and NE breeds. In all, 519 flight speed measurements were taken. We observed differences in temperament between the genetic groups, with the ANNE group showing the highest flight speed, the HHHH, HHAN and AHHH groups had lowest values for this measure, while the NEAN, NENE, ANAN and ANCR groups had intermediate values. There was no influence of temperament on weight gain of calves. Calves ANNE are more reactive than the other genotypes studied, which should be taken into account in planning and implementation of management practices involved in the production system.
