Description: This study aimed to characterize Phytophthora nicotianae isolates from various crops and one ornamental plant in Brazil. The results showed that 34 isolates, collected from parsley, periwinkle, onion, okra, lettuce, squash, zucchini, and cucumber, were successfully identified as P. nicotianae. Additionally, the study found that the A1 mating type accounted for 32% of the isolates, while the A2 mating type accounted for 68%. This research established a new, updated host list for P. nicotianae in Brazil, including new reports for parsley, periwinkle, onion, okra, lettuce plants, as well as squash, zucchini, and cucumber fruits.
