Conteúdo:	Secondary forests in the Amazon gained importance when attention was called to processes following landscape disturbances, such as deforestation. Sharp distinctions between successional stages are often artificial, but sometimes useful to characterize selected landscapes and to estimate their role in carbon sequestration.
