Descripción:	A eficiência do manejo florestal, como uma forma de exploração sustentável das florestas tropicais, varia com a intensidade e periodicidade das intervenções aplicadas, bem como com o impacto resultante da derrubada e do arraste das árvores colhidas. A avaliação do manejo florestal madeireiro aplicado na Floresta Estadual do Antimary, no Acre, indicou que a intensidade de exploração e os danos verificados na floresta residual variaram entre as unidades de produção anual, salientando-se a dificuldade de se planejar o arraste. Sobretudo, o impacto imposto à floresta residual foi pequeno e, aliada a baixa mortalidade de árvores, as técnicas de manejo utilizadas foram adequadas, podendo estas serem complementadas por tratamentos silviculturais durante o intervalo do ciclo de corte. The forest management efficiency, as aform of sustainable harvesting of tropical forests, changes according to intensity and periodicity of the applied intervention, as well as with the resulting impact due to cutting and skidding of the harvested trees. The evaluation of forest timber management carried out at the Antimary State Forest, in the State of Acre, indicated that the harvesting intensity and damage verified in the remaining forest ranged among the annual production units, and emphasized the difficulties of logging activities planning. Apartfrom the problems described above, the impact on the remaining forest was small, and a low tree mortality was recorded, demonstrating the adequacy ofthe techniques used. The efficiency ofthese techniques can be improved by silvicultural treatments during the cutting cycle interval.
