Description: ABSTRACT - This study aimed to evaluate the economic performance of three production systems combining cattle, crops and forest, based on research results obtained in Mato Grosso do Sul State, Brazil: iLP, integrating crop and pastures; iLPF1, which besides crop and pastures, includes eucalyptus in a lower density; and iLPF2, differing from iLPF1 for a higher density of trees. Considering a 12-year horizon, net present value (NPV) and benefit/cost ratio were calculated, among other parameters. The lower NPV is that from iLP, whose only advantage is the absence of negative values along the net cash flow. On the other hand, the higher NPV was observed for iLPF2, 21% above that from iLPF1. The NPV for the incremental cash flow (iLPF2 - iLPF1) indicated that iLPF2 is the most interesting investment. Sensitivity analyses were also performed, showing that: a) beef production on iLPF1 can be reduced almost 70% during years 5 to 12, keeping its NPV higher than that from iLP; b) even when iLPF2 have not beef output along years 5 to 12, its NPV is superior to that of iLP, though reduced to half; c) in ILPF2, if the eucalyptus output is nothing in year 12, the NPV is still positive, although lower than those from iLP; d) a 30% simultaneous reduction on soybeans productivity and price is particularly detrimental for iLP, whose NPV decreases 92%, against reductions of 31% and 26% in NPV’s of iLPF1 and iLPF2, respectively.
