Description: This work presents a methodological proposal to estimate favorable areas of occurrence of the psilid D. citri in São Paulo State, applying geoprocessing tools, climatic data and a model of developmental rate of insects. Favorability maps were obtained adopting the temperature levels and its effects in D. citri development. The spatial distribution maps of the monthly reproductive rate were obtained applying a literature model (modified Logan model). The North and Northwest regions of the State were classified as ?favorable? or ?very favorable? to the development of D. citri during all blooming period of citrus (August to March). The Central and South regions were classified only as ?favorable? from September. The monthly reproductive rate of D. citri followed the same pattern. The methodology was adequate to estimate the favorable areas to the occurrence of D. citri, indicating a potential to be used in risk analysis studies of quarentenary insects and pests of recent introduction as the greening. New variables can be added to the model as new knowledge of biology of this insect becomes available for the São Paulo State citric grown area.
