ABSTRACT - For presenting good resistance and high softly, the sheep's skin it is very sought by tannery and footwears industries of the Southeast and South of the country. However, they are clear the advantages, she is still treated as sub-product of the activity, stopping incorporating won significant in the productive chain. In that work the morphology of the sheep's skin of the Ideal and Morada Nova breed was identified, through sections colored with hematoxilin and eosin, monted in permanent sheets and examined with a polarizing microscope. In the Morada Nova's skin they were identified bunches of fibers of collagen without preferential direction, evidencing a structure with intense interwoven. The thermostatic and reticular dermis occupy each one, the half of the total thickness of the skin. In the Ideal sheep, the reticular dermis occupies only a third of the total thickness of the skin. This because it is high the folicular density in the thermostatic dermis, due to high amount of representatives non reticulars. Such structure results in leather with low resistance to the physical- mechanics tests, when compared with the leather of the Morada Nova sheep. During the tanning process, such constituent non reticulars was removed of the skin of the Ideal sheep creating spaces, before occupied by them. |
