Description: Glyphosate [N-(phosphonomethyl) glycine] was used as a preharvest desiccant on cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp) in greenhouse and field studies in 1982, 1983 and 1984. Various stages of pod development were selected and tagged at the time of herbicide application in order to make comparative studies of the effect of the herbicide on biochemical components of the seeds.
