Descripción:	O presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a produção e rentabilidade de alface e rúcula, em cultivo sobre palhada de adubos verdes e sem cobertura do solo. Foram marcadas duas áreas de 20 m², sendo em uma delas feita a semeadura de espécies utilizadas como adubos verdes com posterior corte, formando a palhada necessária à cobertura do solo e outra usada como testemunha, com crescimento de vegetação espontânea. Foram avaliadas as fitomassas fresca e seca da alface e rúcula em cultivo sobre a palhada e sem cobertura do solo. A maior renda bruta por hectare foi da alface obtida no cultivo sobre palhada, proporcionando um incremento de R$ 194.235,00 por (t/ha¹) em relação ao cultivo sem palhada. Pode-se concluir, que a utilização de pré-cultivo de adubos verdes favoreceu o aumento da produção e rentabilidade de alface e rúcula. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the production and profitability of lettuce and arugula, cultivated on green manure straw and without soil cover. They were marked two areas of 20 m², in one of them sowed various species used as green manure with subsequent cutting, forming a mulch to cover the soil and another used as control, with growth of spontaneous vegetation. We evaluated the fresh and dry mass of lettuce and arugula cultivated on the straw and without ground cover. The highest gross income per hectare was obtained on the lettuce cultivation on straw, providing an increase of R$ 194,235.18 per (t/ha¹) in relation to cultivation without mulch. It may be concluded that the use of green manure pre-cultivation favored the increase of production and profitability of lettuce and arugula.
