Description: Since twenty years ago, the northeast region of Brazil, characterized by tropical semi-arid imate, has produced tropical wines. Scientific research started in this region three years ago. The aim of this study was to evaluate quality characteristics of three grape cultivars (Tempranillo, Castelão and Periquito) recent1y introduced in the region for red wine production, using four different rootstocks (lAC-3J3. IAC-766. S04 and 420-A). Significant differences were found for the wine composition and quality among the three cultivars and the four rootstocks.
